Were you the account holder, or a user on someone else’s account? If the latter, you were on someone else’s account, the account holder can remove whoever they want for any reason.

Call AT&T to make the dispute when they are open. Name being changed is a big no-no.

Did the name on the account change, or was there a Transfer of Billing Responsibility where someone else took over the service into their own account (so new account number under their name)? And if still under the same account, was it actually the account ownership where they change your name (or perhaps minor spelling) or was it just the billing address?
Name just changing makes no sense. Do you know how or who changed it?
