Does anyone know a way to convert a SIM to eSIM on the same Pixel 8 Pro from the account page?

I've searched around and found a couple of different ways people have used but none of them actually seem to work. I've tried switching the device but the process locks up as it just keeps telling me the IEMI is the same as my current device(obviously this is what I want) and will not let me click next. I also saw an instruction that said to go to the device - device options and select issue eSIM or convert to eSIM  but there is no such option under device options or anywhere under the device. Not sure why they have to make it so hard to find.

Hey!

The simplest way to do this is to go the myAT&T App, click Manage Device, then scroll until you see "View all Options and Settings" and then "Manage your SIM." This page will either prompt you to "Get a new eSIM" or "Switch Devices." If you do not see the eSim option, use the switch device function and then input IMEI 2 from your device. The system should automatically issue an eSIM, and will prompt you to download it. Just make sure you're connected to WiFi!

Hey there @cciechad,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We'll be happy to assist you with setting up your eSIM.

You can set up an eSIM by following these steps:

  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview by going to this link: https://m.att.com/myatt/native/deepLink.html?action=Overview&appInstall=N
  2. Scroll to My devices.
  3. Choose Manage for the device that needs a new eSIM.
  4. Scroll to Options & settings and select Get a new eSIM.
  5. Confirm your selection to Get a new eSIM.
  6. Follow the prompts to complete your eSIM setup.

If you are unable to complete the transfer, you will need to visit a store for further assistance.

Thank you, I'll give that a try(the using IEMI2 the other instructions do not work as there are no "manage your sim" or "get a new esim" on the device page. I was thinking there was a technical difference between IEMI1 and 2 but now that you mention it I think that doesn't matter for newer phones.

Robin,

That is not helpful. I don't get why ATT keeps gaslighting with those instructions. There is no such button "get a new eSIM"(and I already stated that). Impossible instructions are frustrating for users and you have these same bad instructions in the ATT help section. Screenshot below.

Hey there @cciechad,

Thanks for getting back to us with this information

As we've mentioned earlier, you can migrate from a physical SIM to an eSIM which must be done at your nearest AT&T store. You can visit this link: https://www.att.com/stores/ to look for the AT&T stores near you.

Let us know if you have additional questions.

Robin,

Thank you for your suggestion. I will try the users suggestion first and if that doesn't work I will do that. I will say its seems really dumb though. Why would you waste your staff(and customers) time when you could just have a button on the account page that pops up the QR code(also why do you have docs on your site that say this is possible if it is not). In this day and age having such a simple process not be automated is silly.

Thank you,

Chad
