Blackberry 10 Classic Password Problems

I have used 9 of the 10 tries allowed.  One more "oops" and it will erase everything.  Would this be the same as a reset?  If that happens, can I start all over, same Blackberry ID?  Or is it a "brick" at that point.  The user guide is not clear on that.  My fat fingers somehow messed up numbers/letters when I set the password.  I do have the blend and link programs on my PC.  If I restore that backup, will it make the old password active again and overwrite my new one?  Thanks!

Hello @maugui,

Thank you for reaching out on the Community Forums.  I understand completely.  On my computer once, I somehow entered the wrong password when resetting.  I always wondered how I managed to mistype it twice.  I would be happy to help!

After researching into this, I did find it will erase all data but will not brick your phone.  Blackberry has a great article on it.  I could not find any definitive information about restoring the password, but did find an article relating to backup and reset using Blackberry Link.

I hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions by replying in this thread.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you!  Turns out I knew the passcode all along, but the keys are so small, I kept messing up.  I did the reset.  Now my phone works better than before.  You found more reference articles than I did.  Gonna have to copy that 10.3.1 user guide.  Mine is 10.3.3 and does not seem to be that detailed.  I'm good now!  Thanks!

Hello @maugui,

I’m so happy you remembered, and on top of it, it is running better, this is great news!  Sometimes the older articles can be the most helpful.   New software comes out quickly, but it seems to take a bit for the articles on support websites to match.

Please let us know if you have any further questions, and have a lovely day!
