No need to suspend your SIM card, you just need to stop renewing your plan. However, if your account balance is $0 for more than 60 days, your account is closed and your number lost. So, before you leave do the following: 1) change to one of the pay per use plans, either the $0.25/minute or $2/day plan, 2) Refill your account with at least $25. The $25 refill is good for 90 days, you will then have 60 days after that to renew. Since you are gone four months, you will lose that $25 because it will expire. If you don’t want to lose any money, refill with $100. A $100 refill is good for a year. When you get back, you change back to your regular plan and the $100 will still be there to pay for service.
