consistently getting server disconnections while gaming on ethernet. wifi does not disconnect

on my PC, I am wired with the ethernet cable to the motherboard. i’ve tried both ports on the motherboard and have the same issues.

this issue has only started happening since I got fiber internet installed. I did not have this issue with my previous internet provider.

my issue is: I get randomly disconnected from the server while i’m in MID-GAME. ruining my experience and losing out on game progress. i’ve always gotten the same error message. on multiple game modes in call of duty modern warfare 3. (zombies and warzone)

I’ve replaced the ethernet cable, changed DNS SETTINGS, added port forwarding, updated network drivers, all resulting in no change and getting the same errors.

it has happened 10 minutes into a game, 20+ minutes into a game, 50+ minutes into a game… it’s random and happens TOO OFTEN to just let it go. other gamers in my same lobbies are not getting disconnected, that’s how I know it is a problem in my end and not the game.

When I tried using wifi connection and disabling the ethernet & unplugging the cable, I have NOT had the disconnect issue.

I would rather play wired to take advantage of the higher download & upload speeds. (about 2x faster)

CAN you please help me troubleshoot and fix this issue?

picture of the error is attached.

@dippinMike

What AT&T Gateway do you have a BGW320 or BGW210?

If you have a BGW320 are you using Port 1 (lowest Ethernet port and has a Blue port), try using 1 of the 3 regular Ethernet ports. Not all computer Ethernet cards / controller play well with the 1/2.5/5 Gbps Port 1.
