IP address showing I’m out of state cannot use an app
I am unable to use an app due to my IP address saying that I am out of the state of Kentucky when I am not I am at home but it still shows a different state. I contacted the company of the app and they informed me that AT&T would have to re-route my IP address to my home and so I spoke with AT&T and of course they can’t do anything this is silly silly silly stuff!

That’s the problem with using IP addresses to determine location, they aren’t necessarilyaccurate. Sorry but ATT isn’t going to reroute your IP, that’s not a thing.

All mobile IP is fluid. Use location services instead.

Hi there, MrsDriver! We do understand what is going on. We might have a solution for you.
As @spoom2 stated, back on the thread that you posted on "Your IP address is not based on where you live, it is based on where the host sever is located."
It looks like your host sever, or the server that is being used to supply your internet connection is from another state. We really don't know what causes that. It could be that there are to many connections are coming from one place and another connection had to open up. There could be multitude of reasons why this is happening.
Now we do have a solution, that might help. Normally this is for our business customers, but our residential customers can get them as well. They are called Static IP Addresses. What an static ip address is, is an ip address that is assigned manually and manually entered into the internet equipment, to bring that equipment online.
The fore mentioned link is just one of the solutions that we can give out.The next solution would be to replace your AT&T equipment, but we do not know if the correct ip address with be automatically assigned to you. As in with static ip address, they are never change.
So with all that being said, our suggestion with the help of our ACE/expert, suggest that static ip addresses is the remedy to the problem.
If you so desire to purchase a set of static IP addresses, you may do by calling 1-800-288-2020 and you will need to speak to technical support.
If there is anything else that we can do, please do not hesitate to come back to us and reply.
Thank you for choosing AT&T and have a great holiday season.

Hi MrsDriver! We are here to further address your IP address concerns!
As formerlyknownas stated, you'll need to turn on your location for your device to connect to your nearest cellular tower and be able to access the app. Another option is to access the app through your computer.
We hope this helps! Reach back out to us if you have additional questions. Thank you for reaching out to the AT&T Community!

Hello @at&t
i recently got a new iPhone. My location services ARE ON, yet my ip is showing apps/websites I am Michigan, when I’m in Maine no where near Michigan. So this needs to be fixed, because my location services ARE ON, and the nearest cell tower is certainly not in Michigan when I’m in Maine….
