Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - 178MB update recently pushed but Won't do anything additional
On Jan 10th 2013, I received a OTA update 178MB. Once update was completed, nothing initialized or updated.
Reboot several times, no luck
Called AT&T and they stated to try again in 24 hours
Did that and still no additonal update or any update.
Another suggestion from AT&T was to install Kies and do a full backup and then do a firmware update
Did backup, but nothing to update from firmware. States I am at latest and greatest of 4.1.1
So what the came down that was 178mb. Reading various post here suggest it was the update that will take 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
Only thing I can think of is to maybe reset my phone to factory and try another flash?
Any suggestion from the community or at&T?

I would not download the update. The 4.1.2 update for the Note 2, the 4.1 update for the GS3 and the recent update for the HTC X are causing major issues with inbound and outbound calls. Take it from someone that has been through multiple dveice exchanges, SIM replacements and hours wasted with ATT customer service.

In your App Drawer, do you have an app called Downloads? If so, check that app and see if you see the downloaded file and select it to see if the update will start. Your phone may not have updated if the battery was too low at the time. Your battery needs to be at at least 50% to update.

So, I decided to Reset my Phone/Factory reset to see if I can replicate this
After resetting to factory reset, I was able to execute the ATT software pdate
Its now downloading the 178mb
Let's wait and see what happens
To the responder above this post.
Is there a way to go back to 4.1.1? If this update fails or I don't like it...like you stated, its causing issues?

I should have search the /download or /downloads folder and see if there was a file that I could execute.....I guess that may have helped.....
Let see what happens after its finishes....
Will keep the community posted.

Download completed, but nothing kicked in or executed.....:(
version still 4.1.1
waiting 5 min...nothing
Restarted and nothng, no update.....
wait 60 sec and I notice something
In Notification:
Device managment: Downloading
What is it downloading..??? not sure...
clicked Downloading/device management...and nothing.
Going to leave it for 30 min (see what happens).
looking at app info, it shows
total: 116kb
application 0
usb storage app: 0
data: 116kb
cache : 0
So don't seem like its doing anything:(
Pending......
Waiting......and now I'm back to ATT Has a Software update....continue?
I clicked OK
Rebooted and Installing......../Updating......35% done

That should be the update downloading - it's how mine displayed after the AT&T rep pushed it to me. It may be painfully slow though, mine took 1.5 hours.

I guess Factory Reset + update software and then waiting patiently and ensuring phone charged full and even plugged in may be the only way to do it 100% without any issue.....Let see if all goes through before bed time:)

Update worked. 4.1.2
Now, to see if the Restore process from Kies work or not.
I guess thats another thread for discussion....
