Hi @sadielexia, we hear you and understand the importance of message interaction. Let's address your error code when attempting to send a text message!
Please let us know if Advanced Messaging is turned on, go to Message App > Settings > Advanced Messaging > off. We recommend turning it off since it is known to interfere with regular messaging, then power cycle your device to reset your device. Note that the error code mentioned is a device error, not an AT&T network error.
Also, here is our helpful Troubleshoot And Resolve Tool> Fix An Issue > Connection > Messaging to help fix your message service.
We hope this is helpful! Reach back to us if you have additional questions!
Thank you for contacting AT&T Community & Forums,

File a FCC complaint. I did and AT&T investigation concluded I am affected by "android vs iphone" issue they have. I can't send and MMS text to anyone that is not RCS connected. No matter the carrier or phone type it stopped working a month ago. They told me there is no date when it will be fixed and my options were to download another messaging app which I refuse to pay for another texting app. Google message and Samsung messaging apps are both affected. Then the Vice President's office at AT&T suggested I find another phone carrier as well. I was appalled and can't believe their response. Who's going to finish paying for this new phone I got back in December 2023, who's going to pay for the messaging app which they had no suggestion, who's going to pay for me to switch carriers if I need to leave. This is unacceptable and more need to be done.

It seems like a network issue rather than a device problem. Troubleshoot network connectivity. Ensure your SIM card is properly inserted and functioning. Sometimes, a carrier reset may be needed.
