You can also find answers to your frequently asked questions at the bottom of International Calling homepage.
We hope this information helps out for you. Thank you for reaching AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you. I have already found all of this info on-line previously. I went in to an AT&T location and got an answer to my specific question in regard to charges for calling and receiving calls.
To whom it may conern: if you receive a call or text while traveling in Guatemala (Elite Unlimited plan), the person calling you will be charged for an international call even though you have a US number.

@jobryant66 That is absolutely not true. Whoever told you that was clueless.

I'm not the least bit surprised incorrect information was given out. When I called Verizon about my mother's travel plans they gave me incorrect information as well. Fortunately I had read correct information online.
@jobryant66 there is never a charge for someone in the United States to call a US number, doesn't matter where in the world they are. It is only the person roaming who potentially could be charged for using a different service provider. @sandblaster info is correct

I'd like to clarify that the THEY is not the "someone in the United States" dialing the number.
If you're calling a US number, you pay the same to call that US Number (cell minutes, payphone, home phone long distance, whatever), regardless of where in the world the phone with that number currently is.

Thank you for all responses.
I have received different info every time I go into an AT&T location.
All on-line info related to international travel only directed me to posts about purchasing AT&T long distance calling plans.
I appreciate all your clarification.

This is incorrect. The person calling your US number will pay the same thing they always pay to call your US number. Why? Because they're dialing a US number (where your phone is at is irrelevant).
Also, someone in/from Guatemala who calls your US number when you (and they) are in Guatemala will not be making a local call, they'll be calling to the US and will pay the same amount to call your number regardless of where you are.
