In my case, it turns out it was a buggy RG. An installer came out, replaced the RG and everything was fine. In your case, yeah, check the firewall logs on the RG, you might have to add packet filter rules to pass the traffic.

So just an hour and a half ago, my RG rebooted. Logs on my syslog server show it was installing a new firmware. Now behind my static IP, I can't ping... well... anything I can find that is level3. For instance, the level3 resolvers such as 4.2.2.2 - can't ping it. I can't do a direct DNS lookup against them (such as nslookup google.com 4.2.2.2). Can't do it over TCP nor U...

I got the NVG589 installed. The installer and I setup my static IPs. Everything worked great. Static IPs worked, private DHCP pool worked. Everything was awesome. And big bonus, I could finally do a traceroute which my old AT&T 2WIRE gateway would block. Then the installer called in and had my service upgraded from Max Turbo to Power for the faster speeds. At that point, ...

Well, tech came and left. He got my 2nd receiver working again, and showed me how my bonded pair install shouldn't be necissary. He said he can't see why they even set me up with a bonded pair in the first place, and said the bonded pairs can be kind of flaky. So I'm trying running with only one of the links up, and I'll see if that improves stability. The important thing...

Wow, this thread blew up here recently. I'm really bummed out to see all the problems people are having trying to get SMTP unblocked. I too had no problem at all the first time, took a couple minutes. The first person I spoke to had it done and it was immeadiate. No sweat at all. This thread I started was because there was some crazy problem where their system SHOWED that...

The port 25 outbound block really shouldn't bug that many people. Using SMTPS (SSL/TLS) is FAR preferred. For client-to-server communications, simply checking the box or dropdown or whatever in outlook to use SSL or TLS for SMTP would fix it handily if your mail server is setup to handle SMTPS on 465 or 587 - without the need to unblock port 25. So if that didn't fix it e...

Hah... Sure, you can have your mailserver bind to whatever port(s) you'd like. But it does no good. Port 25 is what all mailservers use to communicate across the 'net. Listening on port 26 does you no good as no one else is going to send you mail by that port. Sending mail out port 26 won't get get anywhere, because no one else listens/sends on 26. 26 isn't even assigned ...

Matt hooked me up. Sharp guy. Ended up being a provisioning issue. He unprovisioned and re-provisioned my account, which fixed it. Thanks a bunch for pointing me at the higher-end guys. No way I was going to find that info going through the call center.

Got U-Verse + Internet. Specifically asked if it was ok to run my own e-mail server (sendmail: personal use, personal domain, no hosted, no relay). Was assured it was fine to do so, and that AT&T would setup my DNS PTR record for my static IPs. Had to call in to remove the block on outbound SMTP (tcp 25). They removed it, no problems for months. Recently lost connectivity...
