Received this DVR today as an upgrade to the older Motorola model. The manual says the eSATA and USB are "reserved fro future use". Does that mean they disabled/non-functional now? What purpose does the LAN (CAT5) connection serve?

I have been with AT&T since 2003 but that's getting ready to change. I'm reading all these announcements about the S2 ICS update in Korea, Russia, etc. And now unlocked versions are getting it. I see less and less of any value add AT&T brings to the table.

So I managed to get LANTest working. Testing pretty consitently in the 800 range, so it sounds like my cabling is good to go. From what I've read I doubt upgrading to Cat6 would boost me much higher..

What's a good tool/utility to test actual speeds? I tried LAN Speed test ( http://www.totusoft.com/lanspeed2.html ) but the server component is wonky and doesn't work.

How do you get the DMZ on the router to "stick"? I've foolowed these diections - everything works great but the router eventually "falls" out of the DMZ in a very short time..

My neighbor and I are both Uverse subscribers and pretty happy ones at that. However, in the past few weeks we have both noticed some unusual "quirks" in connection speeds whenever a bit torrent client is used. Granted, a hit on d/l speed is expected when the client is running but it seems like there is a "hold over" period even after the client is turned off where bandwi...

I interpreted his answer as a bit tongue in cheek (...

My education stopped abruptly - cut short at a Ph.D. from Manchester University in 1980. What more English or education do I need to talk to AT&T (my former employer)? My on-line session support was on the lines of: if you go to this web-site: http...

The city has nothing to do with it. Cable internet service is provisioned in "segments" or "loops". Your bandwidth is solely dependent on how many other people are on that same segment and how "heavy" ...

Murman: That is an amazing d/l speed but an anemic u/l. I'd still be curious to see how those speeds average across the day and over time. The cable co.'s are notorious for overloadng their internet loops. I still say you're on a very under populated segment and it wouldn't last forever. Don_H: While your u/l and d/l speeds are much more impressive, the fact that you ran ...
