aviewer, the link you posted for that item doesn't say that it will capture from a DVR. Is there a way to do something like that we a similar device? Then, I would haven't have to buy the very expensive PVR.

my thoughts, not sure what is wrong with the DVR. The power button just flashes, but the AT&T logo comes on the TV screen and sits there frozen. We are getting a new DVR today. Yes, I know the DVR is not meant to archive. But, as discussed with my husband last night - back in the day when we recorded shows to VHS tapes, we had them for many years. I still have some VHS re...

Hello, Some Joe. I'm glad I found this thread from 2010. I have a dilemma. Seems that my DVR stopped working on Sunday night. After going through all of the troubleshooting with AT&T, they told me they are sending a new DVR. I asked how I can get the recordings off of the old DVR and they said, "You can't." I researched the Hauppauge PVR and it seems like it would work. M...

I'm trying to find out how we can watch the tv with just the tv speakers without turning the entire entertainment system on. We have the tv with HDMI going to the receiver too along with the AT&T box.

Update. We bought a 7.1 surround sound system by Onyko and my boyfriend will be hooking the speakers up today or tomorrow. He and I agreed that it would be better to have this receiver work at what it was intended to do and that is to provide a home theater experience. I can't wait to see how it sounds!

He's already in the process of changing it and removing the center speaker. I guess we shall see how it sounds. Yeah, I know that's how it's supposed to work with the center speaker as my boyfriend said the same thing as you. But, it bothers me and hurts my right ear. I also cannot understand what the people are saying that well when it's coming out of the center speaker....

No need for the professional installers. He was able to get it all working using Some Joe's instructions. Since we purchased a new Blu Ray DVD player, he had to modify the instructions from Joe. Now he's going to reconfigure the speakers because the sound is strange with the one center speaker that we have (however, we have no subwoofer or surround sound system). The voic...

We received the Blu Ray DVD player yesterday. Boyfriend has everything hooked up, but cannot get the Blu Ray player to work. SomeJoe, I'm not sure if there are other settings on the receiver that he has to do? He's not getting a picture in order to do the setup screen that the Blu Ray player says should automatically come up when you turn on the tv. Also, it seems like th...

He reset the entire receiver and is going to start again from the beginning. We ordered a Blu Ray DVD player and HDMI cable for it. Right now we have another problem and he's dealing with that. Then, he will go back to the TV and go through your steps again. Thanks again!

Well, he was able to get everything connected. VCR does not display anything on the screen, but we get sound. Same with the DVD player. Also, the DVD player doesn't have a progressive/normal slide switch on it. He had to put it on the other tv and go to the menu in order to change it to Progressive. We only get sound, no picture. He's messing with the connections now. He'...

I'm utterly amazed at how you can do this as well. I know you are looking at the manuals, but how to make sense of some of it? Are you an audio guru? My boyfriend read your instructions and said, "Ahhhh, now it makes sense." The only question he had was about his equalizer for the Bose speakers. He said that they have to have the equalizer. But, he'll try your connections...

SomeJoe, you don't know how much I appreciate this! You are simply the best and I am very grateful for your help in this. I guess my boyfriend wasn't losing his mind when he was trying to tell me that this is very complicated. Yes, I know we have older components and we could go out and buy an HDMI DVD player. But, what about the tape deck and the VCR? I mean, we really d...
