I have been having A LOT of problems with my NVG589 shutting down and rebooting itself for no apparent reason, and I was told to unplug from the surge protector and plug directly to the wall. Apparently, this modem is very 'sensitive'.

Actually, this is not an AT&T issue, it is a Windows 8.1 issue. I ran into the same exact problem. Luckily, I have a desktop that has Windows 7 on it. I can fax with no issue from that one, however, could not with Windows 8.1 I came accross this information that solved the issue for me: http://aztcs.org/meeting_notes/winhardsig/win8.1/fax-fix-win8.1.pdf

I have 2 wireless boxes currently and one in particular is in my living room downstairs. The NVG589 is upstairs on the opposite side of the house. So, the sending unit is connected to the modem. The box in my living room gets maybe 2 bars on the front and then sometimes dips to the red bars. In my master bedroom, which is directly above the living room, I have an ethernet...

I actually had to same identical situation. The Belkin back-up power supply was actually causing fluctuations in power to the NVG589 causing it to reboot constantly after a few weeks of use. A tech cam out and put the proper battery in the unit and disconnected the Belkin... no more rebooting.

I happen to stumble upon this thread, and have to say that this has saved me from taking a bat to my tv. I have a Toshiba 55 inch LED. Since the day I got it I just could not get the settings right for the picute. Tried everything, even a calabration disc. Well, just got a Samsung plasma, and same issue. Then I see this post and decide to try hooking box to TV by componen...

Mine seems to be resolved. Here is the chain of events: First, I had AT&T come and install the internal battery and removed the external Belkin unit. That didn't seem to make much difference. Second, I took the DVR that was connected via coax and connected via ethernet (theory was that there was issue with coax making the modem reboot) yes, you guessed it... that did not ...

OK. The reason I ask is when mine was installed a few months ago, they did not install the internal battery even though I have VOIP, I was given the Belkin external. So, last week, a tech came out due to my constant and increasing frequency of auto-rebooting, and he indicated to me that the NVG589 is not supposed to run off the Belkin. He installed the internal battery, a...

I have the same exact thing happening with mine. Almst everyday, a few times a day the modem just reboots itself. It rebooted last about an hour ago, and I see there are currently 2522 FEC errors (line 1) and 1 FEC error (line 2) since.

I was looking at the device list by logging into the NGV589 and I was able to account for everything that is connected either by ethernet or wirelessly except for 3 items. Both at listed as being connected to Port 4 of the modem. I have the little Cisco box for my wireless TV receivers connected there. But, there are 7 different things listed as being connected in port 4....

I have the new Power Tier and the NVG589 installed last week. Not sure what my opinion is. I had to purchase an extender for my wireless since the modem had to be relocated to a back bedroom (max I get from a test is 12mbps). Wired computers, at times, have the full 45 mbps. However, not a few minutes later.. it tests at 24mbps. I honestly think I had more consistant leve...

Well, I don't have a 2wire, its the new one the NVG589 due to the new Power Tier. So, that's probably why. I think I am the only one that has this in the area. So, if I get an extended, will I get a better signal downstairs? Are there any other settings you all would like to see?
