You love wandering into it, don't you? I guess you missed the stories that discussed how Canalys included derivatives like OMS & Tapas in their numbers, or how their methodology looked suspect . As far as why the update isn't out, I can't answer that question. sitnsidewayz wrote: http://www.pcworld.com/article/218219/android_becomes_bestselling_smartphone_os_says_canalys....

No, it didn't. It said people with unlimited SMARTPHONE data plans would be grandfathered. Here's the press release. Also, it pretty clearly states in the Answer Center what is and isn't eligible to retain unlimited data. I don't know what you expect....to be spoonfed your options? It's pretty clear if you navigate around the site what the different types of phones are, a...

Not sure where you're getting this "Android is #1" garbage, but you might want to revisit the reports that from Gartner & another research firm that have been largely discredited. Worldwide, Nokia is still #1, although their market share lead shrinks year-over-year. RIM, Apple & Google are in a more or less dead heat in the US, although it's tough to integrate quarter-ove...

And this is where you'd be wrong. With the major American GSM carriers, you have to choose one side or the other, because AT&T and T-Mobile use different 3G frequencies. AT&T has 90+ million subscribers....T-Mo has in the mid-30s in millions of subscribers. Where does it make sense to release the phone? I've been around AT&T since their BellSouth Mobility days, and I've h...

Still, I don't recall ANY of the Android phones, even the first one, generating the kind of buzz the iPhone did. And Verizon HAS to be ahead of AT&T in deploying LTE; their CDMA technology is dead-end, even with VORA implemented. If AT&T managed to implement a proper HSPA+ network before Verizon got LTE off the ground, people would see what the difference was between the ...

[Please keep it courteous] The update release date slipped. Technology release dates tend to do that. Windows Phone Series 7 was supposed to ship in 2009, and it didn't make it to market until nearly 2011. You haven't been defrauded; you were given the best info that people had available at the time you purchased the phone. Not sure who's making all these promises to you,...

Because it IS more specific to iPhone users. Were there lines for the release of any Android handset that matched the fever pitch of the iPhone releases? Yes, there are those who want Android devices, but even among the Android users on Verizon surveys suggest a sizable chunk of them will defect to the iPhone. Do we really need to go down this path again? Apple, if nothin...

Warranty exchange won't just give you a BB Torch. If you go through their exchange process multiple times and still don't receive satisfaction, you can request to be provided a different phone that will be selected at the department's discretion. If the Samsung Impression is a smartphone, you will be provided with "comparable" smartphones. If the Impression isn't a smartp...

AT&T has more customers, by a factor of nearly 1.5, than the population of the UK. Sometime over the last couple of quarters they overtook Verizon for the #1 carrier (at least briefly). Nobody is acquiring them, so I think it's you who misunderstands the value and concept of "goodwill". I don't know what kind of Facebook charges your child ran up, whether it was data usag...

I've yet to see a definitive statement about Voice Over Rev. A (VORA), the technology that is supposed to allow for simultaneous voice & data over Verizon. I've read that it's supposed to be implemented this year, but I don't know anything about whether the current lineup of phones will support this...if it's a firmware/software tweak for existing phones, going to require...

I wouldn't expect to see an LTE iPhone until 2012 at the earliest. Unless AT&T significantly accelerates their plans, I doubt we'll see much in the way of an LTE deployment this year, and Apple is notoriously reticent to place new chipsets in their phones before they are reasonably mature. That's they the first iPhone was still a 2G device long after other manufacturers w...

{Please keep it courteous} Why does AT&T need "an immediate response" in the form of an Android handset to the loss of iPhone exclusivity? Are people suddenly going to stop buying AT&T iPhones? While AT&T will inevitably lose some sales of iPhones to Verizon, they might not necessarily gain back an equivalent number of those sales by offering a bright & shiny new Android ...

I don't think this can be done. Plans are not transferrable in this manner. The only way you could conceivably do anything like this would be to take over his number. You wouldn't be able to move the plan between lines on your account, so you'd still have an extra line that wouldn't be in use. Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were seeking.

This should be true, with a major caveat. You will have to be setup on a month-to-month account with your phone rather than on a contract. Some CSRs do NOT know how to do this properly, so read everything very carefully.

I don't think they differentiate the plans that way this time. You'll have to choose either the 200MB (Data Plus) plan or the 2GB plan (Data Pro). You no longer have the option of the unlimited plan.

That's not entirely correct. There are a number of a factors that go into determining your upgrade date - whether you've had an early upgrade recently, how much your monthly bill is, and for family plan lines whether you're the primary or an add-on line. Upgrade dates can be anywhere from 12-21 months. AT&T does occasionally allow people to upgrade early for a $75 premium...

You cannot use a different country's SIM card in an AT&T iPhone 4. All iPhones sold by AT&T are locked to the AT&T network. Any methods to get around those locks cannot be discussed here. You will either have to enable international roaming and buy an international roaming plan, or you will have to use a different phone.

Bluetooth tethering will NOT enable you to do what you are trying to do (i.e., share your Internet connection with multiple computers). I know how to connect a Windows Mobile device to a Mac using Bluetooth and Internet Sharing, but that won't help you with a PC. This blog shows you how to connect using the Internet Sharing app that comes with Windows Mobile, but this met...
