I had done the hard reset, but decided to do a factory wipe and reload. The problem still exists. My cellular signal on my skyrocket is absolutely miserable. Sigh. I'm under contract till August. It looks like I'm stuck till then.

I downloaded and installed the Jelly Bean update as soon as it was available via kies. My phone is stable for the most part, and battery life has improved after I turned off google now (total battery sucker). HOWEVER: Ever since the update my cellular signal has been horrible. I've gone from having four bars normally to one. Calls are frequently dropped, normally garbled,...

tcblack wrote: I cannot see any other differences yet. The incoming call screen uses the same (new) round buttons as the unlock screen. Also 2.3.6 is supposed to include a fix to the voice search. I double checked the settings and it seems that I now have the choice between vlingo and google, which I don't recall having before the update.

Subsequent reboot was much much faster. Perhaps back to normal.

It is installing on mine right now (84% and climbing). <pause>95% ... <pause> ... 99% <long pause> 100% "update is OK" ...<Reboot>... Nothing new on the boot screen. Though it does take much longer once the logo has been drawn and "rethink possible" is etched on the screen. Normally, I'm only at this screen for a second or two. It was at least a minute or more. Hmm.... Th...

It's working fine with my D-link N router. I connect my BB 8900 at G speeds.

Most reviews on the net list it as being slightly better than the Bold, with many commenters chalking that up to the lack of 3G

I understand your position. I shouldn't respond to these things when I'm tired. No harshness on my end either.

Best phone comparison site I've seen is phonegg.com Edit: http://www.phonegg.com/compare/24/BlackBerry-8310-vs-BlackBerry-8900.html Message Edited by tcblack on 05-12-2009 04:15:48 PM

Having not played with the bold I still can't compare but there was no appreciable lag in the 8900. I'd wager the larger RAM makes up for the processor.

Whatever phonejunkie30 , it's not malarky. He was working in the ATT store, selling ATT phones. He was holding an AT&T branded 8900, and for a few minutes so did I. I'm presuming that the sales people can get their hands on pre-release versions in order to allow them familiarity with the phones. From a marketing perspective that's just good business practice. And since AT...

I was still bouncing back and forth on this until last evening. I stopped at a local store to look at the bold and they were out. When I mentioned my conundrum his eyes lit up and he pulled out his personal 8900. He's been using it for a month and he took me through it. My mind is made. I'm definitely going for the 8900.
