Just by way of more info for those with similar issues: As dtvuser2013 said the issue went to a case manager and after some back and forth, a service visit was arranged for last Friday. While there were some other issues found (an unnecessary 8-way splitter replaced with a 2-way; some wiring replaced), the HR34 was removed and a 44 put in its place. I mentioned this forum...

Whew....That is a major relief. Does it matter if the primary reason for the original call was something else? As I said to dtvuser2013, I'm uncertain if the CSR who helped set up the service call even noted the freezing issue and the tech was stumped without an example to point to and say this is the problem. In either case, thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks for the reply, The primary reason for the call was a faulty power inserter. I only mentioned the playback freezing problem in passing to the CSR when setting up the tech visit. I don't even know if she made a note of it. So I don't want to come off too strong. I did however mention it to the tech during the service call but someone else in the house had deleted the...
