Possibly a bad receiver, I rarely see HR44s go bad but I have seen it. If both the receiver and remote are not responding to the power button on each then it is possibly the receiver or there maybe some voltage running in the system where it shouldn't be. I would call DirecTV and have a tech look at it.

Could also be a software glitch, the c41w is still new afterwards. Hooking up phones is rare these days as most households are cellphone only.

Are you using filters, with uverse you don't need them, and you could try a different phone jack. I have also seen phone splitters cause issues too. Also uverse phone is a hybrid VoIP system it could be sending interference through the phone line, or if you are using cordless phones they could be interfering with the signal. Who is the phone provider, I quit hooking hr44 up to phones because both charter and frontier have issues with that receiver being hooked up to their phone lines. It could also be an issue with the hr44.

That is what I was saying, it could turn them off, I believe the units I seen do this were controlled through an ARC HDMI port to the Audio Receiver. I said it can, but I didn’t know how. This is slightly incorrect, when programming an audio device and setting volume lock, I have found some (Samsung, Sony, and LG) Audio Receivers turn off when you press off as well as the TV and DirecTv, I believe they use the same off command/frequency as the TV which is why, but I have seen all three turn off with the off button before.

Sounds like either a misaligned dish, or the LNB may be going bad, but chances are the dish alignment is the issue here, I would call in a service call at 1-800-531-5000 to have a technician roll out to fix the issue.
