The HR44 was definitely (at least in my case) the cure. Not a single issue with pixelation since. I too had tried the "live" versus recorded viewing on the HR34 prior to my last call. Watched SNL on one set, while recording the same episode. The recorded version was an unwatchable mess, while the live viewing was fine. So anyone who says it's not the HR34's issue, is mist...

I emailed DTV, sent the YouTube links, directed them to this forum, etc. The reply..."call us". I did, explained everything, got the same "first I've heard of it" answer. Told them about the HR44 fix noted here on the forum but was told I had to have a tech out (again) to check it out (again), and if the problem remained, then maybe I could get the replacement. I even ask...

Same here. I received the message about the NBA free preview from 10/29-11/5 on 11/4! (Luckily I already knew about it.) DTV's email system is often just as bad. Last free HBO W/E, I received the email 6 hours before it was over (Again, luckily I knew about it from another source.) But rest assured, if it's an upcoming "special" PPV event -$$$-, they'll let you know weeks...

Should just be a temporary issue. Once the unit has reset completely, all of your recordings and the to do list should be there. The complete reset can take a bit of time, sometimes well after you are able to view normal programming in my experience.

Just chiming in from another neck of the woods, N. Idaho (Spokane WA. "local" network feed). Same pixilation, freezing, jumping problem on my HR34. Last week it was during the USC/Notre Dame afternoon game on NBC. It was virtually unwatchable (and not just because of how USC performed!) I've also seen the problem during SNL (repeat versions @ 10:00pm on Sat. and new Eps. ...

Hey dcason, Yep, Ep. 2 was fine for me as well. Ep. 4 should also be fine as it's listed for only 1 hour (unless we only get 46 minutes of it!). As noted above, we still seem at a loss for a definitive answer.

Thanks 3reddogs3, That seems to negate the "encoding" answer unless it was encoded one way for my Genie HR34 and another way for yours...not likely! The other person with the issue is dcason who is posting here as well now. He has a Genie HR44, so the problem exists with that unit as well.

Thanks DCD, Ok, so if that 's the case and it is/was an encoding error, then: 1. The encoding error existed only for the first airing of the episode, as subsequent airings showing the same 1:15 worth of program, recorded and played back the entire 1:15. (mrcooperand I both recorded later airings that worked fine). I.E. it was encoded incorrectly for the premier, but corre...

The guide shows the program airs from 7:00pm to 8:15pm. The DVR did record from 7:00pm to 8:15pm (i.e. the entire 1:15 is displayed in the info and on the time bar), but the playback fails after approx 63 minutes. If the program producers had set it incorrectly, it would not show the full 1:15 as recorded (only 63 minutes or so). The fact that the entire hour and 15 minut...

Same thing here. "American Horror Story: Coven" (FXHD 248) shows it recorded 1:15 (as it was actually scheduled on the guide, not for just an hour), but it will only play back 63 minutes or so, then ask if I want to save or delete. Can't play, FF or skip to the remaining 12 or so minutes, just getting the msg to save or delete. Same problem with same show 2 weeks ago...I ...

It took them 3 months, but last nights update for the H21 receivers (0x46bd), finally resolved the issue. Searching by keyword on H21's actually works again!!!
