I wonder if the DirecTV installer heads out each morning with a big pile of DVRs. I wonder if when he gets to my house he'd let me pick through the pile? Is there a way to tell from the exterior of the box which model it is?

Thanks for the info Litzdog911. Does Solid Signal work with DTV in regards to replacing / upgrading devices? Or, would it have to come directly from DTV?

I have 3 DVRs. They are old, older, and oldest! The 'old' one just stopped outputting HDMI. It's an HR21-200. I don't pay for the protection plan, but I'm wondering if it'll save me the $199 upgrade fee. I have a few questions about the PP: DTV says it's $7.99/mo. Is that per DVR? How many months would I have to pay for the plan b/f I can get the broken DVR replaced? Can ...

Hey Folks, I've been waiting to upgrade for a while now. I understand the HD44 is a far superior DVR as compared to the HD34. I don't want to debate the comparison. I just want to know if DTV is still shipping (trying to get rid of) the HD34, or are only shipping the HD44?

I don't currently pay for the protection plan. I'm using 3 old DTV DVRs. If I activate the protection plan, how long do I have to wait before requesting the FREE upgrades for my DVRs? Also, is it $7.99 per DVR or a flat rate? Thanks in advance, FG

I've had a forum account for several years and hadn't had a problem in the past. DTV must have added those required fields at some point since the last time I replied to a posting.

Very interesting, I'll print this out and give it a try. Your explanation makes more sense given our OLD wiring setup. We used to have all three DVRs directly connected to our home gigabit network. That was before the Whole Home service. Now only one of the DVRs is connected to the gigabit network and that's through a "DECA" (I think that's what it's called). Given the ne...

Well, yesterday was a good day for the DVRs. In the early morning when I knew none of the DVRs were recording anything I unplugged the SWM network power supply and rebooted all three DVRs, then plugged the SWM back in. In the evening we were able to watch two one hour programs without a single disconnect message. I guess that until I learn a better method I'll be doing a ...

We have 3 DVRs in total. All experiencing similar problems. You never know which one will drop out. They're all networked via the "SWIM" DTV technology. All the communication is over the same coax as the satellite signals. One of the DVRs has the gadget that connects to home ethernet network that gives them all access to the internet. While our home ethernet wired and wir...
