I can watch VOD reliably. My home network consists of a Motorola cable modem, a Netgear WNDR4500 router, two eight port switches connected by Cat 5e cable. My Mac mini and HR44 are connected by Cat 5e cable to a switch. My normal Speedtest results at the Mac mini are 30 Mbps down, 8 Mbps up. My iPad Speedtest results on the 2.4 GHz band are about 6 -8 Mbps down and up.

I also have an iPad Air with IOS 7.0.3 with the DIRECTV App for iPad Version 2.1.6...
