Always make sure that all cables and wires are secure with no frays or damage to the cords, Also Have you tried doing a red button reset? If you are using HDMI, There are a few things that you can try. 1. Use a different HDMI input (if your tv has more than one). 2. Try a different HDMI cable, they can go bad after a time

Check the model number on your Receiver, make sure its actually the Whole Home DVR (HR44)
