Shannon01 is right. I found that IR mode on the older remote is the best for me. Call back technical support you might get someone more knowledgable. remember that the new remote is essential for certain features that are promoted as part of the new Genie DVR. So the first scripted response will always be "this remote is required". You just need to politely inform the CSR...

I would suggest calling the support line and just asking.. tell them the remote you have is not satisfactory; they should be happy to send you out the other one.

same here. I gave it a good try but ultimately I found the ergonomics to be horrible, especially for those with large hands, and I went back to the old one in frustration. Using the new remote also allowed me to realize the advantage of line-of-sight IR control: if the remote is configured for RF, and is temporariliy burried under a pillow or book or whatever, the DVR sti...

It would be important to know which light on the GenieGo is stil amber/yellow. Also - tell us how your system is configured. In paticular how does your DVR coaxial network connect to Ethernet? BTW If you have both a DSL/Cable router and a wireless router its good to keep things simple and disable DHCP on the wireless router - make it just an access point and allow the DSL...

While we are speculating on the future, Slingbox is at a technological disadvantage in the DTV world, in my opinion. I would look for Sling and Dish to become closer partners and for the two companies, Dish and DTV to diverge in their respective solutions (right now Sling is common to both). However, I dont' see Sling living very long in the DTV world, as long as DTV want...

yea, they don't read those either.... ".... Please do NOT submit any creative or technical concepts, ideas, suggestions, know-how or techniques. At any given time DIRECTV staff is working on various projects and initiatives for new products and services that might seem to others to be similar to their own creative or technical work. Our policy is to destroy any unsolicite...

Right. I think GenieGo should become more sling-like. you would choose the channel to watch via direct control over the DVR implimented via ethernet. If this were not possible, then the DTV website itself would not be capable of issuing a "record" command, and DTV CSRs would not be able to reboot your receiver. Those commands enter the receiver via the coaxial interface u...

what is a "directv internet connection center"? FYI the lessons I learned in setting up my GenieGo: 1. keep the network simple. a) if you have both a DSL modem/router, AND a wireless router, make sure that you configure the wireless router as an access point only, and forget about configuring dual routers. b) set up automatic DHCP reservation c) GenieGo plugs into the sam...

yea I find that troubleshooting with the history function (especially) is revealing, and in fact DCD is spot on -- the designation of first-run or repeat is meta data that can be wrong, but will still influence DVR behavior. Most of the time, however, its pilot error :-).

First, I'd like to say that the GenieGo capability set is pretty reasonable, and while its proper function depends heavily upon the local installation, computing environment and local network behaviors, the application generally works as advertized. Once you understand these dependencies, and take responsibility for the components you own, you are able to look past the ba...

use the "info" button on your remote, which, if the information is available, will show the "first aired" date of the program currently highlighted in the guide.

lets not stray from the supported configuration here. I suggest that you simply let the DTV technician install the CCK in the way he his documenation directs him and in the way DTV will support. Also, just to clarify: There are DECAs that don't require (or have) an external power brick, but these devices will not work with, are not relavent to, and are not part of the pro...

Update. The first step was to clean up memory utilzation, uninstall unnecessalry apps, and perform a soft (power button) reset. This is pretty much the the first thing to try. But this did not produce success. Seeing others succesfully using the Galaxy s3 took the plunge and performed a hard reset my phone back to factory settings. This is a last resort, because it requir...
