The reason for not using RC 71 in IR mode is that they lock up . I personally went thru 12 remotes the tech had on his truck setting each to RF and within an hr they reverted back to IR BUT once in IR they cant be reprogrammed without a complete reboot of the Genie and clients. On 3 separate occasions we tried to set them to IR but had no control over the clients so rever...

yes there is a reason to use the older remote in IR because there are problems with the new RC71 remotes in RF mode. Trust me I just went thru a month of resetting everything just to have the RC71's revert back to IR. There will be a fix for this as it was documented with the technician and network services while he was at my house. Until its fixed IR remotes work fine un...

If you are using the RC71 remote there are issues with the remote reverting back to IR once programmed. Just call them and have them send you the old remotes and your problems will be solved until a fix someday comes along

I was told the same thing by case management and 3 tech's that came to my house. It worked but always reverted back to IR , If this keeps happening the suggestion is to replace the new RF remote with the older White IR remote and all connection problems are then solved. What is your setup? Genie? Hr44? clients C41? New remotes? please provide a little more information so that I can assist you. If you have a NEW Genie HR44 with the new RF remotes and C41 clients . Its not the remotes that make the system go insane...its the firmware or software in the genie or clients or both that do not communicate with the remotes correctly. The one client that you are having the most problem with , I would have replaced and then see what happens.

Call case management at 1-800-442-1635 and use code 2149 to reference my case and just tell them you are having the same problem...schedule a service call and have all the remotes changed to the older remotes....hope this helps...let me know what they say.....

you must have misunderstood me...the work around is to use the old white remotes UNTIL there is a firmware or software upgrade...getting a new RC71 will not solve your problem but the older remote works just fine because its IR...sorry for the confusion.....DTV does have a clue because a talked to a network tech with the case management team member on the line and we disc...
