My TiVo DVR keeps doing automated dialing during daytime hours, thereby rendering my home phone unusable. I've missed several calls because of it. Is there any way to stop the dialups during daytime hours?

Actually, it is a different question from my other post. This post asks for any general suggestions and the other post asks a very specific question about another way to reset this particular DVR and was therefore put under a different title. But thank you for your opinion!

Yes, indeed, it IS rather long in the tooth and has served us well. I just called DTV for a replacement dvr. Unless I receive a response here that works, I guess it's time to give in and say goodbye to the ol' friend. Thank you kindly for your input.

Is there another way to reset my TiVo DVR instead of just unplugging it? Stuck on gray welcome powering up screen and unplugging doesn't help. Since the TiVo DVR does not have a red reset button, I am at a loss.

Forgot to mention that the other DirecTV boxes, including the DVR in other room, appear to be working just fine so I have already ruled out a satellite issue.

Moondoggie and Litzdog, I just checked a show that recorded 8p-9p CST, which would be 6p-7p PST, and it recorded the entire hour without any interruption. Just FYI, so you can take the suggestion to start a new thread with what appears to be an isolated incident (or at least not related to the earlier TiVo issues). Good luck!
