Within 1 minute I would guess.. Date is listed today 3/4/2014 time is 6:19 am..I am running Windows 8.1 on a brand new machine.

No that is not right.... I have had mine for a month and have only done 1 reset, and that was after a software update. What model Genie do you have ? How long have you had the receiver ? Has this just started recently ? You might need to talk to Directv about a replacement receiver..

Near the dish.. No.. you will need power near the receiver for the SWM Block ( Single Wire Modulator) (( its a block where the coax goes into and then out to the receivers)) mine is only 6x3x3

No, I ordered a second RC71 remote as a back-up and it arrived on Tues, so I went and to the menu and did the programming steps. 1. Out of the box it was set to work with my HR44/700 2. I was able to get the RC71 to turn on and off the HR44/700 my Insignia 32" TV, and to work with the soundbar..

Word of advice, price does not mean quality.. That $80 HDMI cable is priced about $72 too much.... But otherwise it could be the cable, or it could be the connectors on the back of the receiver.. Try swapping out the cable first, and then try swapping the receiver..
