I know the iPad app has been updated but haven't had a chance to test it yet, but up till now (fyi) I have only been able to get the 'out of home' to work on my iPhone not the iPad. WOW! Thank You! That definitely was a helpful answer! I updated my router port forwarding by adding 8086 and 8087 and my iPad is respond much better, my GenieGo is now preparing a download. Update: At home now, on my own network. The app now finds my DVR but the message "Please wait while connection with your GenieGo is established." All blue lights on the GenieGo. Yes I was and was sitting in the same chair in the same building. I was connected to the same wifi network when it was working, I exited out of the app (didn't close it), went back in and wasn't able to connect.

Well, I decided to just return the HR24. I kept it only to watch the recordings before the HR44 and now that looks like that will be impossible. So I will document which recordings remain and go to OD and iTunes to retrieve those episodes deemed necessary. Thank you all for your input.

Am I fooling myself think this app actually works on the iPad (mini or not)? I'm finding it to be inconsistent.. The directv iPad mini app does not see my playlist in ooh... it was working then it wasn't, it also doesn't see my DVR even though it's seen at home. Well, I 'unstacked' them even though where they're located is pretty tight. And no, that didn't resolve the issue. So yes, I agree its probably the fan cause I didn't hear it after I reconnected but did continue to get the temp message. Anybody know if DirecTV will replace a bad fan?

Went to Settings > Receiver Control and entered the IP address for my Genie DVR.
