Sounds to be a resolution problem. Try turning off 1080p in the receiver settings and watching it again.

DirecTV actually does send out 10pin cabling. Both composite and component.... We do not however send out HDMI to RCA converters or digital audio cabling.

Are you allowing the content to fully download before trying to watch? If not, I would definitely try that. If it's been fully downloaded, it would usually bring up a specific error code such as 85 or something along those lines. If that's the case, you need to call DirecTV.

I really would say, after looking at all the other info, that you would do best to try replacing the HDMI cable. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you'd want to switch to component cabling as it would then be proven to be a handshaking issue.
