Short version: Settings/Network Setup/Test Connection/Network Services/Configuration Type/Whatever is there other than cancel Good Luck! And please let me know if this works for you too. Here is how I discovered how to eliminate the problem. I went to Settings/Network Setup/Test Connection/Run System Test/- The only failure listed was 'Cannot Detect Phone Dial Tone'. That...

Looks like to me this is just an unacknowledged problem with the Genie unit and their new firmware. I never had it before the December update. But they never ask before changing so what can you do? I mean other than say "F#&k Directv!" and change services. btw: This isn't the only thing I hate about the new firmware.

I have the HR44-700. I use an ethernet cable from my router to the DVR. It's the same way my computer is connected. I have tried connecting the DVR wirelessly and it made no difference. The program I am trying to record has been showing 10% recorded now for over six hours. I don't expect to ever watch it using HBO On Demand on DirecTV. On Demand is a great selling point. ...

I have the same problem. Suddenly I can't watch a single episode of Game of Thrones from HBO On Demand because it has to buffer for two minutes after playing less than one minute. That is with a Ethernet cable connection to the router that speedtest.net always shows a download speed of over 60MBPS. A chat with DirecTV led to a phone call with DirecTV that led to a $50 ser...

Well that sounds simple, if you have a degree in computer science that is. Just " opening the L2TP port (UDP 1701) and forwarding it to your DTV receiver" and all your problems are over. But for me that just brings up a multitude of questions. What is a port? What is an L2TP? What is a UDP 1701? What is the difference between them? What is their location, computer, router...

Thanks for the info. I'm in high 90s on 99 and 103. I'll have to check them when it's raining. I very rarely have to watch anything in SD. That's one of the reasons I went with DirecTV.

I would have to climb on the roof to be able to aim a soaker at the dish as it is aimed across the top of the house, but that's a good idea for a normal mount. Genies simply were not designed with anything in mind other than your basic watch DirecTV system in mind. I suspect I may have equipment problems. I get high nineties signal levels on everything other than transpon...

On the website, the one without backlight is $15 and the backlit one is $25. A difference of $10 at retail, but the cost difference is probably only $1-2. I think it would be prudent for DirecTV to give the backlit remote to those who buy the Genie Receiver and Premier programming package as I think many of these customers like myself and vinnyvegas just expect this to be...

Thanks for the model number! If that were listed on the website so I could have asked for the backlit remotes by model number, maybe I wouldn't be having this problem. As for not usually being free, what is usually free? lol They agreed to upgrade me to backlit remotes when I agreed to the special 'Movers Deal' ($169), and since I already had the Genie Receiver and the Pr...

I saw that and asked to be upgraded to this with my Movers deal. They sent me one of the two I needed. It has ' RC72 ' over the On button as opposed to the 'RC71' on the old remotes, but if it is backlit, then how do you get it to work? There is no backlight button. There is nothing in the instructions about it. I can't find anything on DirecTV's website about it. I did j...
