The ONLY way you're going to resolve this is to replace your HR34 with an HR44 per my post above. And you can't do this any other way than to schedule a service call because the guy will have HR44s on his truck whereas if you request a replacement over the phone, Direct TV will mail you a refurbished HR34 with the same problem. I replaced the cable on mine prior to DTV replacing the DVR. Didn't make a bit of difference. It was kind of a desperation move anyway!

When the guy installed my H44, he mentioned that I would lose the recordings on my H34. That was not critical for me.

I called DTV tech support and they suggested getting someone out here on a service call. When the guy arrived, he swapped out the DVR for the latest model (HR44-500), changed out the "brains" on the dish and re-aimed the dish.
