A question for the techies. If you go with a HR54 (internal power inserter) in a 2 DVR setup, do you just split the SWM cable from the dish with a D* green label splitter and use the power passing port for the HR54 and the other port for the other DVR? You then would have no external power inserter and just the coaxial cable (SWM) from the dish split by a green label spli...

Run Portland ME (04101) as a secondary zip to get 13.2 KRQE in NM.

Another thing I discovered. I've had my AM21 on my HR24 and my HR44. I have it on the 24 because of less conflicts. One thing I found out about using an AM21 with the HR44, is that when you do a double reboot (CLEARMYBOX). It is better to wait the 24-48 hours and let the HR44 DVR totally rebuild the guide and everything else, before you run the setup on the AM21. I had in...

If you are using the same zip code as primary and secondary, that might cause some confusion. Just run a primary zip code and NO secondary zip code and see what happens. If you need to run a secondary zip code, that should be ok. But it should be different than the primary zip code run. I would maybe try a double-reboot of the DVR before trying this. By clearing the guide...

Try running different zip codes that are close by to you, but in the same DMA. Or you can try swapping USB cables, I've seen issues solved by doing this. Or if you haven't done a double-reboot, that clears the guide completely, where it rebuilds itself over the next 24-48 hours. I would try that.

If you can plug an ethernet cable into your HR24 and hardwire it, it will be the same as the CCK. Hardwiring (ethernet cable connected to the HR24) with an ethernet cable will give you the same benefits as a CCK. If not, it will work as you now have it, without an internet connection for your HR24.

Directv having discontinued the AM21 will probably never update the database of channels for the AM21. The only way to get your AM21 to receive these channels is by running secondary zip codes matching, channels or RF channels in another database. In most of these instances the guide info will be wrong, but you will be able to view and record the channel on your DVR. A sa...

What's happening to you in this instance, is that you AM21 is not clearing out the old channels from your home DMA. Your NC channels are still in your AM21 and then it will act like you're explaining. The only true way to clear an AM21 is by a double reboot of the AM21/DVR by unplugging them both, twice. This should totally clear your AM21 and would be like starting over....

I got something you can try to get channel 8.1 in LA. Re-run your intial set-up on your AM21 with your LA zip as your primary zip and run (74101) Tulsa OK as your secondary zip. You will get 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 will have the guide for Retro TV. Let me know if this work's for you.
