I've spent over three months on this issue (pixelation on local channels). They are still saying there have been no other reports of this problem. We all know that's not true. I have given up, and have cancelled DirecTV.

I think they have their act together, they just do not know what's going on. I was with DISH network for many years, then changed a few years ago to DirecTV. My entire experience with DirecTV has been good, with the exception of this issue. I do believe that the problem is the network, and that it's made worse by the complexity of the new DVRs. I'm now having occasional problems, but nowhere near the extent previously. It may be the NBC folks are fixing their signal.

I didn't mean to fragment the conversations. Now that I know what to do, I should be a better participant. It helps to have discovered how to find the threads I had been involved in. That was part of the problem, I couldn't get back to my original conversations.

The problem on KOMO happened once, very briefly, and did not disrupt the picture for more than a fraction of a second. I expect some of that to happen. This is a deal breaker for me, with DirecTV. Part of the problem for me is that I came onto the board for answers to a specific problem and I'd not been on before, didn't understand the protocols. And I guess I responded to someone else's thread in the beginning. I took folks' advice and posted it as my own thread, elsewhere. Well, here I am replying to my own post. I have installed the new DVR and have had it running for several days. I am now getting more of the same problem. So, at least in this case, it's not solved by changing the recorder.

The new Genie has been hooked up for four days. I have seen pixelation on one program, a local channel also (KOMO ch 4 ABC). I'm hoping this was an aberration. It took the original box a month to start showing this behavior, so who knows. I'm grateful that DirecTV took the step of sending a new box. At least we can eliminate that alternative.
