Well, now I have a 5S and the DirecTV app does the same thing. Other airplay apps work perfectly. I'm experiencing the same jerkiness on 2 wifi networks (2 residences) so it's the app, sorry to say.

HR44 UPDATE: After running my HR44 for a couple months I can say, there has been almost no pixellation during live or recorded transmissions. However, what I am now noticing (that did not previously occur) are periods of 1-2 sec. of video blackout while the audio continues. This is well documented in other threads as another problem, on other channels. I have 30 years on ...

Just point them to a few of these threads and the videos I posted previously. Simply an unacceptable level of service for the price we pay. Keep on them and tell them you're going to walk if it's not resolved. Your HR44 is coming soon, I can feel it!

" My inlaws have experienced the freezing issue on their HR24 for over a year now, but they have not called it in. " And there in lies the problem. If everyone would open a service call, DTV would be more likely to acknowledge the problem and put some resources on it. Your only recourse at this point is to strong-arm them into providing a HR-44. This is your only hope for...

DirecTV is going to loose it's shorts on this one. They are sending Techs out every day to troubleshoot a non-existent problem because they refuse to believe there's an issue with the HR34 Genie. There is something in the NBC transmission that some HR34 (and some HR24s) can not handle, period. Whether it's the faster processor, a different video encoding - whatever - the ...

Not as well as expected. They offered $5. I told them that was unacceptable for the amount of time I have into troubleshooting this and waiting for a Tech to show up. I got $20 - and a HR-44, which seems to have addressed the problem. Good Luck!

Not entirely accurate. There have been similar NBC problems reported with the standard HR-24 receivers too. Either way, the solution does appear to be the HR-44.

My HR44 has been running for 2 weeks now without any pixelation issues whatsoever.

My local NBC affiliate was also unable to observe the problem. It's definitely an issue with the HR34. My HR44 replacement is golden after 1 week, and counting.

Yes, besides adding an optical dolby digital connection (that was removed from the HR34 for some reason), the main differences are; 1) the power supply has been removed from the unit so there's no fan internally to keep the PS cool and 2) onboard wireless - connected the unit to my Apple Airport Extreme network without any issues. The HR44 is about 1/2 the size of the HR3...

Service was out last week and replaced my HR34 with a HR44 and I have not seen ANY pixelation/freeze issues with the recordings on NBC or any other channel. On the other hand, I did pick up a 1 sec. blackout (with sound continuing normally) on CBS today which is a separate issue. So, folks, here's another nail in the HR34's coffin. It takes an act of congress (in short su...
