This problem started when direct tv upgraded the system hardware to 0x8a6. Do a search and you will find others talking about this problem. Dont waste your time calling support. Look at my other posts and you will find one with a link to a different forum that is talking about this problem.

Thanks much for the info. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one. I read the thread a couple of time but did not see the solution to solving the skip ahead problem. Good luck, John

I have not tried using SKIP before yesterday so I do not know if it changed with the software update on 8/12/14. When I switched over and tried SKIP I found that you cannot push the button multiple times. You must wait until the advance is done before you press it a second time. Like SLIP, if you push the button multiple time rapidly funny things happen and several times ...

Please close this thread. I have started a new thread about this issue that uses the correct nomenclature. Look for 30 Second SLIP feature changed by new software

My HR 24 receiver started acting funny after Direct TV upgraded the software to version 0x8a6 on 8/12/14. I used to be able to hit the 30 second SLIP button 6 times just as fast as I could to get past 3 minutes of commercials and everything was fine. All I had to do was sit back and wait for the hard drive to catch up. If I do that now I find myself sent to the end of the...

Thanks for the replies, I stand corrected on the nomenclature. I have been saying fast forward when I should have been saying SKIP ahead button. My last two receivers have come with the SLIP feature set as default. I was not even aware that the SKIP feature was available. I remember being disappointed when I changed from a TIVO receiver to a Direct TV receiver years ago a...

Is the a chance that someone could try this on their receiver? HR-24 Software 0x8a6 8/12/14 SLIP mode Remote in RF mode Find a recording with some room left. Rapidly push the fast forward button 6 times. Does the program advance 3 minutes or do you have to slow down and pause a little between pushes to get things to work right? Thanks, John

Thanks to your response I now know the difference between skip and slip. SLIP must be the default as that is what my unit came programed with so that must be what I am complaining about. Is the skip/slip a receiver function or a remote function? Back to my original post. Something has definitely changed with my SLIP function and it happened at the same time the software f...
