I just checked the site you mentioned, and it says "Available" now. http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/wp8-software-update/availability-in-north-america/

8x got its update "right away" because all HTC is providing is the base GDR2 update from MS, which has been out for months. On the other hand, the Nokias are getting 2 updates: the base GDR2 update from MS as well as Amber, which was programmed by Nokia. GDR2: FM, improved DataSense, and some bug fixes Amber: Glance, double-tap to unlock, etc. Nokia released its package o...

You can try the suggestions at this site also: http://www.rbrussell.com/2013/02/13/tech-tip-windows-phone-how-to-fix-stuck-live-tiles-that-wont-update/ I've recently had a bunch of stuck live tiles, and had good luck with the "reset IE cache option".

McHale72 wrote: Amber and GDR2 have ALREADY BEEN APPROVED BY AT&T which is why their newer devices ship with it. It's also why the HTC 8X got it immediately. In typical AT&T style, they are purposely NOT giving it to older models of handsets. My Titan stopped getting updates when the Titan II came out. The Titan II *NEVER* got an update to the latest WP 7.8 because Window...

I saw this error a ton of times while I was on a trip to AZ (where I was using a lot of hotspots, etc.). I never see it when the phone downloads the podcasts from the home wifi. My guess in my case is that the downloads were corrupted and that the resulting files were unplayable. I really wish that MS would actually provide a useful error in this case (i.e. the error text...

FWIW, Telstra (Austraila) says that they received GDR2 on 7-12, and they are expecting to release it on 8-14. http://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/Device-Updates/Handset-updates-18-July/td-p/172420 That doesn't mean AT&T is going to do anyting then (Telstra and AT&T are different). But it should give a sense of the timeframe that the cell phone carriers are working under...

Yes especially since you can't do early upgrades at 20 months like you used to (if your contract ends after March 2014). I know I hate that change.

Your apps are remembered it the store and you should not need to repurchase them. Just a few caveats (from experience): 1. There may be a few apps which work on 7.8 but not on 8. This is not nearly as prevalent as it was a few month's ago; I would think it pretty rare now actually. These apps would be mostly one which have been mostly abandoned by their devs. 2. There may...

I have seen this problem too on my 920. Usually the phone gets super hot too while the battery is draining. While I agree with johninsj that it could be a multiude of things causing the issue in your case, in my case, I have found that it is typically apps that utilizing location services (you know if there is a "bullseye" on your status bar) that cause the battery to dra...

johninsj, just a friendly reminder that there are multiple people posting to this post. I posted the "original" link, but not any followup links, since you are correct that the blogosphere tends to amplify every little thing (correct or not). I try to reply to what you are actually saying, and would appreciate it if you don't conflate what I have said on this thead with wh...

I agree that the thread didn't explicitly say that, but I've seen elsewhere on the web that 7.8 deployment has slowed down to a crawl. I still think that anything that will have the potential of angry customers calling to complain (worse, go to the media) that an update caused them to go beyond their data allowance and run their bills up will cause case conservative (not p...

Yes, there is indeed a serious live tile issue in WP 7.8. Johninsj, is a senior escalation engineer on a MSDN board OK as a source, or should Steve Ballmer himself comment? http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpdevelop/thread/7b54b400-3aaf-47a8-ba48-a15447406f73 And if the bug is causing users to have data overages, I could see AT&T halting the rollout entirely. ...
