I really hate to do that. When the DVR goes home, those receiving it will assume it was turned in erroneously, just like many are, and put it back in the stream to conk out on somebody else. I guess I'll just play the game and put a note in with it,

The DVR lights up. It does everything it is supposed to do except it loses the sgnal from the cable regularly and a reboot gets it back. I can play old recordings but when it loses signal it can't make new ones until it is rebooted. That's why I need to contact a tech instead of a CSR. The script will have me reset the DVR and that will solve the problem but it will be back iside a couple of days. Then I'll call again and be told to do a reset and it will work but the problem will be back within a couple of days ..... ad infinitum. I've already done that myself three times. I have an HR24 that has lost signal access 3 times in the last 4 days. It takes a reboot to get it back. I have two other DVRs that work fine and I have switched cables between the bad one and a good one with the problem staying with the bad DVR. The other two never lose signal. Hey Dog, long time no talk. I have an HR20 and two HR24s. I can do DirecTV APPs so the DVRs can call home over the Internet. The one variable that seems to be involved with all three is the accounts being combined. Another thing I've noticed is hitting the menu button shows the My DirecTV button with no shows listed. I go to channel 1000 or any other channel over 1000 including 1001 and I get a message that the channel is currently not available. All programs are showing 0 available on demand programs. I recently requested my AT&T Uverse Internet bill and DirecTV bill be combined. The test screens say all three DVRs are connected to the Internet. It's been this way for over a week.

3D requires the cable to handle a return signal. There are HDMI cables out there that pre-date that ability. Any HDMI cable labeled high speed or 3D capable should handle it.

Was the TV on before the box was restarted? That needs to be done to make sure the box to recognize the TV. What did you mean by restarted? Powering off, then on again may not do it. That only cuts off the panel lights and outputs. Unplugging and replugging or a red button or software reset is required to make sure the box finds the powered on TV when booting up. There ha...

The Genie "forgets" it is attached to a 3D TV when it is shut off because the HDMI connection is broken and it doesn't try the connection again until you do a reset, Then it "sees" the TV and reestablishes the connection.
