Optical Audio out to Onkyo Receiver. Other channels have sound. Will have to check on the rest.

HD DVR HR24-200 newly installed. We're observing picture but no sound on some Premium channels. Channels include 536-540, 542, 554, 556, 557.

When my HR 24 DVR was freezing on playback, it was determined to be the hard drive and they had to replace the DVR.

The DirecTV tech repair guy showed up today to replace the HD DVR. He's supposed to be the "Case Management" repair - elevated issues. (according to the retention staff on the phone). Thanks. Last year, when our HR24 went bad, they replaced it with HR2x (I forget which) and that one sucked. It was very slow, unusable. Then they got me another HR24-500, which worked for a while but now has gone bad too. :smileyangry: They sent another HR24-200.

This problem has continued. The HR24 HD DVR repeatedly records programs that just show up as a black screen when you play them and then quickly display the "Delete Now" that you'd see at the end of watching a recorded program. They have sent yet another HD DVR to replace mine. It's probably the 4th or 5th one I've had this year.

I have the same problem and it can temporarily be resolved without doing a time-consuming red-button reset. if I go into the Settings and view Satellite signals, then exit, the tuner begins to work again IMMEDIATELY (the small window shows live TV as soon as I go to the View Satellite Signals page) and all channels are back to normal. Which HD DVR model works best? (I don't need Genie service). Is there a difference between HR-24-200 and HR-24-500? Which models of HD DVR are ones to avoid? (One time they gave me a model that wasn't HR24 and it worked very slowly. I'd push the buttons on the remote and the DVR would take many seconds to respond). Thanks

Answer: I went to Windows Control Panel, Programs, and uninstalled DirecTV Player v6.1 from 2012. I downloaded and installed DirecTV Player v8.0 and can now watch TV episodes in my browsers. I turned on my router firewall and Windows firewall. With both firewalls enabled, I can watch TV episodes using DirecTV Everywhere.
