I have two hd dvrs hr22/100 models and activated the whole house network. both dvrs are connected via ethernet through my router, but when i go in to the menu it says no networked dvrs found. i rebooted the dvrs and everything but they still can't fine each other, any ideas? or will i have to spring for the deca's

Do you have to use the DECA devices or will Ethernet cable to the router also work?

Sounds good but I have two DVRS in separate rooms. Will the 2nd dvr be able to hook straight up through the router or will that go through the DECA box also?

You are joining the boxes through a router. The software will automatically be installed in your receiver when you receive the finalized update so your receivers can detect each other.
