Service call on Friday was about as quick as they come. Showed the tech an example of both a frozen video, audio continue recording and a recording from ABC Seattle that was so pixelated you can't watch, both of which I saved on the DVR. I had the same issues you describe (both recorded and live tv) along with this issue as well ( ). After going through 3 painfully simple customer service phone calls (yes, i reset the unit, ran a system test and checked the signal strength) I was able to get a service call scheduled for the next day. I'm having multiple issues, so I probably should have just stuck to the one for this thread to eliminate confusion. Simply, what's happening in the YouTube videos posted by above has happened for us a lot on the local ABC here in Seattle. The other problems are more significant though, just hoping a swap to the HR44 on my service call on Friday takes care of them all.

Came home to find my HR23 yesterday making a whining noise and it won't power on. The noise stops when i unplug the power to the box. Box won't respond to red reset button on the front or a power unplug/ replug. Afraid the hard drive busted, especially considering the amount of stuff I have saved on the DVR. looking to buy a switch for media share over home network. curious what the speed of the ethernet jack on the HR23 is? is it 100 mbps or gigabit? if it's not gigabit i figure just pick up a cheap 10/100 switch and save a little money.
