Well said, Doc. It happened here without notice. Poof! Data wuz gone and auto renewal was deleted. They are long on "I apologize" and short on making things right. Since we know it would be futile to ask for a refund even though this is a Material Change , why not google for "mobilegiving" and help a charity out.

We don't think you are crazy for not using a "smart" phone. Only because you expect to get long term usage out of a W580i. Anyway the SMS won't be different once you find what to plug in. I would not do that though. Dumped SMS/MMS years ago when they hiked the price. Instead, you presumably have in your hands an unbranded phone. That would mean you have generic mail apple...

Honestly I think you should put that w580 to rest. Cannot believe you have milked it this long. My sister bought one and cracked 4 keys in a week or 10 days. She sent it to me and I had it in to Cingular store in less than the 30 day return period and even demonstrated I was the owner. They were going to replace it but declared it had "physical damage" and so they refused...

You should be good without data plan but I would suggest some care and vigilance. PPU data is a bit expensive and your plan is to use none. Your task is set data off and you probably better check it regularly. I use an Xperia X8 with GingerDX and really let 'er loose on wifi. Not just light surfing but mail, youtube, and streams. If you get your data over wifi it does not...

wingrider01 wrote: Have you ever compaired line by line to a a previous bill yet to determine exactly where the price increase occurred? Yes of course I have compared. FAN percentage has not changed. Discount was applied to airtime plus data plan (for over 4 years) but suddently is applied only to airtime plan. The discount dropped and that is exactly how. It is "back doo...

They cant just raise prices here and there randomly to make some money. They have to follow their TOS and wireless agreement as well. They do have to send you ...

Binding agreement? Hahaha! This is both sides of mouth. You even quoted part of it: IF WE INCREASE THE PRICE OF ANY OF THE SERVICES TO WHICH YOU SUBSCRIBE.. The only thing binding is victim agrees to pay. Carrier does not and never has agreed to NOT hike prices. They proved that to me years ago when they hiked text pricing above my summary agreement and refused to termina...

Very good point about the Terms. Neither it nor the Service Agreement (so-called "contract") are really relevant. Agreement is one way: You agree to pay every month under pain of ETF. The corporate agreement is definitely not available. I have heard the party line -- CS referred me to a person at Multinational Hitech, and they deny ability to tell the terms though they da...

Been a customer for about 11 years, starting out on the original AT&T and then over 5 years on Cingular. During this 5 years my FAN discount has been essentially unchanged, applying to my monthly voice and data plans. A couple of months ago AT&T helped themselves to a rate hike by applying the FAN to voice plan only. No notification or documentation; just a bigger bill. I...

OK let me give it a shot here... You have a mail tool. It lets you go configure SMTP and presumably POP3 and/or IMAP. That is what a generic mail tool does. It sends via SMTP and receives via POP3 or IMAP. Now here is where you are really mixing things up. You mention something@txt.att.net and something-else@gmail.com. So far so good, but this is apples and oranges. You c...

Xperia Mini Pro? Hmmph. Get one from Sony Style for $229 with no branding and no sim lock. A locked and branded one would never get me back in a "contract" even for free. Don't expect that play thing to be anything more than a lead balloon like the Nokia symbian game thing was a few years ago. If you want an Android they are out there. I am thinking that it would be a rea...

You have now received guidance on what sort of phone is needed. To that I would like to add that there lots of very nice GSM phones new and used, cheap to expensive to choose from. Some hang on pegs in orange Go Phone boxes alongside the one you bought. Used ones abound and most modern T-mobile phones are fine if unlocked. You can even buy direct from manufacturer stores....
