The location of where to get the version changed in one of the software updates, so if this method doesn't work, it's a sure sign that you don't have the latest. Press MENU on the remote. grovesjej What software version do you have on your HR34? I tried everything to fix this, but it did not start working correctly until one of the software updates. Now it works exactly as it should.

That delay is not unique to the HR34. My HR21 did it too. Sometimes it is so busy doing background stuff that the UI doesn't respond. Then when the processor is freed up, it does everything in the remote queue at once. It's good that DTV isn't in denial about the CID issue. I contacted them when the HR34 was brand new and they had no records of anyone having the issue.

I've used lightening arrestors on outdoor wireless network antennas, but they are only made for 2.4 and 5.7 GHz, so I'm sure they wouldn't work. This is leased equipment, so I think DTV would replace it antway if something happened. This is a special super duper home theater surge protector made by Panamax. I'm just surprised that it worked for a little while. I would expect it would be all or nothing based on the frequency cutoff.

The 771 code can be deceiving because it just means that it cant get signal for the particular satellite/transponder used by that channel, not the entire setup. After a week of perfect operation, my HR-34 stopped receiving a signal. Resets temporarily fixed it, but after a few minutes, it would no longer receive signal.
