New information has come to my attention since I started this thread. MediaNet data packages of 1MB ($4.99) or 5MB ($9.99) do rollover when they are added to a no contract Pay-As-You-Go plan if you keep the package active by renewing every month. There is a rollover cap of 15MB. Now I know that less extensive MediaNet is not the same as full service Laptop Connect, but it...

This is a dumb question but.....what would happen if you popped a prepaid SIM from a throw away Go Phone into a data card? I wouldn't connect right? Or would it switch to Per Kb usage and deplete the cash on the card quickly? Are those SIMs even capable of data? Just wondering.

Thanks for the info. You really do know your stuff. That's why I wanted to hear from users because it was either the AT&T or Novatel support site that said that only one software package should be installed on your computer at a time because of "conflicts". When it comes to using the Novatel card with the AT&Tnetwork, which software package do you prefer; AT&T's Communica...

Thanks for some clarification. I've decided whatever I do will be with the reps over the phone at AT&T.com. They must exist on a higher plane in heaven as opposed to the lowly corporate store reps because they seem too be able to do the "impossible". Case in point: when my MPx220 died of port failure last year, I ordered a new Razr V3xx from them online. When the new phon...

I've just acquired an unlocked Novatel Merlin XU870 Express Data Card. Having read most of the relevant postings; I still have a few questions. I've gotten different answers from AT&T in person and online. Which is the best software to use? AT&T Communications Manager or Novatel's Mobilink? Is Communication Manager compatible with the Novatel card even though AT&T says th...

Thanks for the info. 5Mbs in 5 seconds.....Wow! I was just given an unlocked Novatel Merlin XU870 Express Card and went into the local AT&T store today and left more confused than when I went in. Here's what they suggested. Add a second line to my existing voice plan and add the Laptop Connect to the second voice line. That didn't seem to make any sense. Last year I calle...

I know that there are limited and cheaper plans than $60 a month out there but I'm looking for rollover . I wouldn't mind paying for a very impractical 5Mb,10Mb or100Mb a month plan if I can rollover or accumulate the Mbs during the year for the few times when I need 60Mb- 1Gb or more. This would work the same way as my AT&T rollover voice plan .

I would like to see an inexpensive, limited usage laptop data plan with rollover. I wouldn't mind supplying my own data card and paying say $20 every month to accumulate data usage (Mbs) for the few times a year I would heavily use it. I can't see spending $60 a month now for data usage to be wasted during the months when I wouldn't need or use it at all. The first carrie...
