I have an HR44 and an HR21 next to each other. About a year ago, I set up my remote in IR mode so the DTV switch controls the HR44 and AV1 controls the HR21. My remote now seems to be dying, so I bought a new one (RC66X), but I can't get AV1 to work. It seems that the software may have been changed. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Sure they are available to watch if you want to suffer through commercials and the extremely slow response time. GenieGo does not even work well in home for watching off the dvr. From my experience, there is virtually no overlap between the devices.

I thought you can't download content OOH. Am I wrong about this?

I guess it depends on what you watch. If you only watch things that are not current, then it is better to watch shows downloaded by GenieGo. However, much of what I watch consists of late-night talk shows and baseball. If you want to keep up to date during a long trip, Slingbox is the way to go. GenieGo is clunky and almost stone-age technology in comparison. I was extrem...

That's not a problem. I have two DVRs and a client.

I've used a Slingbox for many years and have just recently bought a GenieGo. GenieGo is good if the content is downloaded to your Ipad for watching on a plane. Otherwise, there is no comparison - Slingbox is far superior in every way. I have watched my home dvr from places as far away as Israel. It is just like sitting in my own living room. You have full use of the remot...

I have a service plan and had the same problem with DTV. It took almost a year to get an HR44. Try asking for service call to fix the problem, not to bring an HR44. If you show him examples of the problem, he probably will give you an HR44. That's your only chance. Good luck.

Don't be surprised if they send you another HR34. A seemingly reasonable manager told me she would send an HR44, but it turned out to be an HR34.

cbierwirth, The people at DirecTV are a bunch of weasels who claim they can do nothing to get you an HR44, even if they grudgingly admit that there is a problem with the HR34. The only way to get an HR44 is to ask for a service call. Try to save some examples of bad recordings to show the tech. It also can help to show some of these posts to avoid getting stuck with anoth...

Yesterday, I got a service call. He gave me an HR44, no questions asked! Luckily, my HR34 had a couple of bad days just before he came, and I had several examples to show. Thanks for your help.

Like so many others, my HR34 has had ongoing pixilation problems on recordings. This has gone on since last spring on two different machines. The first HR34 had a bad hard drive, but the second has passed all tests, even by a technician. From the other posts, I came to realize that the only solution is to upgrade to an HR44. During the last two weeks, I have called DTV se...

ssaylor, Other than the bug, do you see any difference between the HR34 and HR44? Does the software seem to be the same? Does it connect to clients the same way? Does it have the same outputs? Thanks, Gort
