Well, the ITU *never* defined "4G." 3G is defined by 3GPP (GSM successor technologies including UMTS and LTE) and 3GPP2 (CDMA). SMS is limited to 160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters, or 70 16-bit characters. When multiple messages are sent and flagged as such so they're reconnected, these limits become 153, 134, and 67 respectively. These have nothing to do with domestic vs international and I've never heard of an 80-character limit in any context...

AT&T owns the Alltel network here in Montana, and by the end of January you should have MUCH better coverage. All 3G too, and 3G that's 2-3 times the speed of Verizon
