So should I disable it in the RG or in Properties in the Internet Adaper? Or both?

Thanks BeeBeeSA, the thrust of my question is trying to find the purpose and usage. What little I do understand is IPv6 is the latest generation and am of the mind that it'll somehow be faster, better, etc. And have no clue as to what the DHCPv6 is really for and what it does; googling it seems to be related to having a server but not sure, the explainations I've seen refer...

In my RG settings (3801HGV) I've noticed that IPv6 is now enabled (and shows connected in my Internet Access settings) and in LAN settings it shows DHCPv6 Enabled box that is unchecked. Should this be checked or is it more for having your own server? If someone in the know would explain what these settings are for and what they do I would appreciate it big time.

I've had basic internet service for several yrs now and was wondering about the upgrade to the NVG589 Motorola model. Is this something that is done if the 3801 bites the dust or is it something I can ask for?

Thanks Ryan-Gills for taking the time to read and answer....question...when you say remove all of the old settings and reset them to the new pc game are you speaking of the RG or Windows Firewall or both? If it isn't too much trouble could you give me an example? I'm not clear on which settings that refer to a new pc game. Tunngle and Remobo VPN's (for example) with creat...

At first I thought I was having issues with the RG but it does seem that when I create a pinhole the ports do stay in the machine til I reboot the RG (which I have done in the past) and I did do the clear Home Network Devices and now only two show up Trixie-HP and minint-srvbd7u. I think the other issues I was experiencing connecting to gaming servers and torrent streams ...

Hopefully I can articulate this properly. I have an 8601HGV router first off. My PC had to go under the knife (good ole HP) previously I had ports forwarded for gaming and virtual servers. I made the mistake of re-naming my pc and it of course kept the old names in the Home tab under Home Network Devices but when I look in the Details tab my pinholes are listed in a devic...
