This all great information and something I would not have discovered until I owned the phone. I'm still old school and use my CC but will eventually go to one of the smart phone systems. What do you do at a gas station to pay like this (assuming they even accept it) or at places where you might remote order something? I need to present my CC so they can insert it in the p...

@lizdance40 Not sure why you're comparing apple and android but I can tell you that if the Samsung S7 came unlocked I would probably get it. It has everything I am looking for (with the return of the micro SD slot) and more but I'm not sure I can accept the carrier added bloat and the update delays. Since my S4 is still working I'm hoping something similar is released.

From the sites I have checked including Best Buy and Amazon the phone ships with 5.1. If it now supports marshmallow the question for me is how long did it take for the marshmallow upgrade to get to the phone from when the OS was released? With the 6P OS upgrades are virtually instantaneous from what I have read and that's important to me. Does anyone here know if the mot...

I'm still agonizing. I like the features in the moto x pure, especially the micro SD slot, but I think it's somewhat outdated already and under powered. I also like the camera features. I'm not too fond of 5.1 as the OS though. I'm hoping they refresh it soon. The 6P is also very appealing. Quite a difficult decision. I will keep you posted.

@lizdance40 I guess I should have googled it but I went on the app site instead. Thank you so much for this information.

@lizdance40 Your solution seems so simple it's hard to believe it can work. I will certainly try this approach when I get the new phone. I still think apps like Google Authenticator will not pass the serial number. That would allow actual cloning and be a security issue but I will do some more research.

Thanks for the effort. I did come across an app called Helium that looks promising. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en

I'm still hoping to find a phone with a micro SD slot but I fear the chances of that are slim. I'm leaning towards the 6P for myself and the moto for my wife. I think the 6P is a bit too large for her to handle. Her S4 has started acting up as well. It spontaneously powers off and although it will start again it only stays on for a few seconds. After going through several...

Your description is exactly what I experienced, thanks again . I still don't understand what happened though since the phone had no software update I am aware of. You saved me from running out and getting a new phone right away. I have been looking at the moto x pure and the nexus 6p but will now hold off to see what becomes available in the next few months. I have decide...

If you mean smart network switch then yes, it is enabled. Disabling it seems to hold the WiFi connection. I guess I just don't understand why and now what do I need to do to switch between WiFi and Mobil networks? It seems my wife's phone has the same issue. Has some update changed the way the networking works? Is this due to 2.4GHz - 5GHz the router provides? I did cold ...

If you are referring to Auto Connect for AT&T Hotspot, no. The only thing active in the advanced configuration is keep WiFi on during sleep. Nothing on the phone has changed and my wife's S4 connects without any problems as do all other WiFi devices in the house.

Seems like my galaxy S4 is becoming flaky with respect to WiFi and I'm looking to upgrade to a new unlocked Android phone. The two that interest me the most are the Nexus 6P and the Moto X Pure. I have many apps on the phone that need to be on the new phone but I am most concerned with things like VIP Access and Google authenticator. These apps have a serial number associ...

I found it in edit -> phone numbers at the bottom of the list. I'm sure it's the DejaOffice app because the app is faithful to Outlook and much more detailed than the default contacts list. Thank you again for the trouble you went to for my issue. I'm sure your instructions would work if it were not for the app. The app also allows for full encryption (which I have done) ...
