I think AT&T has a dysfuctional back office. Inconsistent & unexplainable even by their own customer service reps. A bad way to run a business.

If the customer has paid late or has credit issues the deposit requirement would make sense. Neither applies in my case. Contrary to some of the replies, I was told by customer support multiple times that this deposit is triggered when the 8th device is added to the account. I want to warn other AT&T wireless customers about what I believe to be VERY deceptive and unethical business practices related to the new Mobile Share Plan.
