I bought the international version before Christmas....I LOVE it. As for the crippled part......not so much crippled, but at&t wanted LTE, which means they had to go to a different chip. I didn't like removing the home button, but considering how apple gets their pants in a wad over every phone coming to the USA market, maybe that played into it. My guess that the at&t ve...

I have the Note, bought it just before Christmas. Granted, the at&t version will be missing the home button, have a different processor, and have an LTE radio, but, basically they are the same. LTE won't be in my area until sometime NEXT century LOL. I'm getting H+ speeds, and connect to wi-fi most of the time anyway. Coming from the Dell streak, the size of the note wasn...

Goes against the business model that the carriers have in the states. Why offer a software update to enhance performance, when we can delay delay delay in hopes that you will just say screw it, and upgrade to a NEW devi...

Since tablets do not have voice (Galaxy Tab, iPad etc), then, they "can't" offer you a data plan & voice plan, because their screwed up system says it is a data only device. Why they "see" the G Note as a tablet only? Who knows...My guess is because they don't want people bringing their own non subsidized phone to their network without it being locked down, features remov...

Ask those that bought the Dell Streak about updates. I bought mine direct from Dell over a year ago, because I didn't want the at&t garbage. The ones that had the carrier locked ones had to wait til around January 2011 JUST to get Froyo! AT&T doesn't release the updates, because it goes against their business model (except for the iPhone). Why offer new features that woul...

What did you expect? NO carrier in the USA has to do anything they don't want to do (unless it is iphone related). Updates? LOL, IF you get one, look for it to be months late, stripped of features. THAT is the world (in the USA) of wireless we live in. With just two "major" carriers in the USA, we have a duopoly . Don't like at&t? where you going to go...Verizon. Read the...

Root the phone, install something like LBE security. There is a section that allows you to block internet access to any app. If an app doesn't require internet (like some games), block them. It also has the side benefit that if an app doesn't require internet access, of blocking the ads that some apps display.

I stick with AT&T, since 90% of the people I talk to (family mostly) is on at&t, so when it's "upgrade" time, I just bite the bullet and buy one off Amazon, Ebay etc, unlocked and uncrippled.

Sometimes I think if at&t had its way, they would sell only iphones, ipads, and ipods. IF they do release an android device, it's 6-9 months late, crippled, and updates? Forget it.

Look for an app on the market called LBE privacy guard. That app has a selectivity feature that can block apps from phoning home. It might not be available though on a locked phone. I have an unlocked streak and it sure cuts down the phoning home problem.

Except for the iphone, if you get ONE update from at&t, consider yourself lucky. Think about it. Unless it is a security update, they don't want phones to be updated. It goes against their business model. New phones with new software = upgrades. Old phones with new software = No upgrades.
