Got shipping info about an hour ago... tsdevine wrote: Ordered a 32 on 7/5 about 10:15 AM Eastern time, in store, upgrade. went off backorder between 11 PM and 1:15 AM on 7/8-7/9. Don't have a tracking number yet, but my guess is I'll have one later today or Monday at the latest.

It was just a thought..... Also, even with a 3G phone, AT&T is rolling out N-SET which will push non-data users to GSM/2G even if they have a 3G phone. All part of network management. It will be interesting to see if the SIM swap makes any difference. If not, then maybe it's the phone. -Tim

When AT&T originally implemented the 3G service, they put it predominantly on the 1900 band. This frequency doesn't penetrate buildings very well. 2G was on 850 which penetrates buildings better. So if you had a non-3G phone...you probably didn't notice any difference. For 3G phones, many times they would switch to the 2G band 850) indoors. Recently they've been swapping....

They probable added 3g coverage in the 850 band and moved 2g to 1900. As the other poster said, 850 had better penetration than the higher frequency band.
