Cutter, what does securing the Modem GUI page have to do with wireless security? To make any changes, you have to enter the Device Access Code listed on the left hand side of your modem, which you can change to suit personal preferences. In order to access the modem GUI page, you have to be connected to the RG via wifi (WPA-PSK TKIP & WPA2-PSK AES) and have the Device Acc...

Checked with a buddy at ATT. There's only 1 outage in KS currently which is only affecting 31 customers and was reported about an hour ago. No ongoing outages in your area. There were also a few issues with VoD and recording, but no straight OOS issues except for the 31 customers.

Currently, the 250GB data usage statistic is not being enforced. It has not been for the last few years - I don't recall if it was ever enforced. For DSL it is, for UV it is not. Unlimited usage is actually a selling point in Sales for U-verse currently.

You can send a Private message to ATTU-verseCare (blue envelope, top right) with your account number, full name, contact number and the best time you can be reached. That's the community managers whom have contacts directly to the right teams that can help you. There are a few other things I'd recommend checking, such as NAT sessions or improper grounding/bridge taps/othe...

Confirmed area outages are different than intermittent service connectivity. More than likely you'll need a technician, but I'd strongly suggest downloading U-verse Realtime ( www.uvrealtime.com/) and post the results. This will allow us to help you remotely over the forums. For immediate assistance, contact ATT at 800-288-2020 and ask for technical support.

Change the DNS to google's then. 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4. Generally if the entire DNS server is down to the RG, your service light will blink or turn off.

Just as an additive to my thoughts' post, 21 days is the time frame for leased equipment to be returned to ATT via UPS without a charge. The RMA number you can use is the order number or billing account number. Either will look up your account in UPS's system but you do have to call to get it removed or else you'll indefinitely pay the 7$/month leasing fee on it.

There are only 2 new RGs that ATT is steadily deploying on VDSL2: Motorola NVG589 & Pace 5031. Pace 5031 is only for double play/single play and not capable of IPTV traffic. Motorola NVG589 is only being deployed for bonded pair installs and conversions currently. While NVG589 does have both single pair and bonded pair capabilities (and a 25% cost savings over 3801 & 50% ...

The new Motorola modems support both RJ-11 (RJ-14 for NVG589 Bonded Pair) and RJ-45. I suspect that didn't have much to do with not being able to get sync. If you are having no service issues, there more than likely will be a charge for a new CAT5 RJ-45 homerun. Even with service issues, after 30 days of install I believe methods and proceedures of premises technicians is...

Ok, while we may be trying to help, the answers to ATT-specific issues are not always known by the community of users. Please contact ATT support. This will need to go to Tier 2 and perhaps ICU.

The physical address has nothing to do with your IP. The IP is registered to a certain area & is not registered specifically to your house. Go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and get your WAN IP. Then go to http://whois.net (enter your WAN IP) and see what address it's registered to.

The modem you will more than likely receive upon installation of U-verse is Motorolla NVG510. It's not a poor piece of equipment, however there are 2 annoying nuances that may dissuade you. NAD2902 redirect page (which can be fixed but requires you to root inside the RG) and re-directs to Url/cgi-bin/redirect.ha which causes a lot of 404-not found on the websites since tha...

Nope, you may notice changes in the sytle or theme of your email when you login via yahoo or att, but that's just cosmetic. You have not ever had to proactively initiate a change. I'd recommend forwarding that email to abuse@att.com

1) Yes you can 2) Yes, you don't configure static IP via the individual computers NIC, but you assign them in the RG instead 3) Limitation is not on DHCP but limiting simultaneous devices connecting via wifi would be wise if you want performance. But since you're using a router-behind-router setup, that's all fine. There is no true bridge mode with most Uverse modems, but ...

Agreed that it may take time to update OVALS (the address database). Though you can force an Address Validation (takes 7-10 days) by Sales or through investigation link after verifying that your address isn't available by checking http://www.att.com/u-verse/availability/ to avoid waiting that 2-3month period.

The USB port on the UV receivers (STB) can be used to charge devices or power them on. They only serve as a logical device for special remote controls for Uverse.

To clarify, modems are not 'hot swappable', they need to be provisioned. So you'd need to call in and get a swap (setting it up as a ghost swap kind of) through tier 2. Tell them you already have a modem at your house that's a 3600HGV and they can provision it to your account by doing a swap as a 'tech at premise' order. It's a little bit confusing to understand, however ...

2WIRExxx, yeah the XXX's are the last 3 digits of the serial number of the modem. Nothing special. If you have your own modem at your house, you can call the 800 number, press 0 to speak with a live representative and specifically request uverse Tier 2 support. They can place a swap order on the account for the 'backup' modem as long as it's not provisioned to an active ac...

To clarify, the iPSU doesn't hold a battery backup unless you have cvoip. If it's TV+HSIA then a tech won't install the battery inside the ipsu. The ipsu is both a logical component of the inid setup as well as a power supply and is mandatory.

No problem. You don't need to disable DHCP since your router will be using DHCP to assign IP addresses to your Xboxs. The networks need to be different meaning the link from Router -> Modem should be on 192.168.1.x network and the Router -> Xbox should be on a different network (like 192.168.2.x). You don't need to setup a specific IP for the router in your modem. Here's ...

Option #1: Go into the RG's GUi, Settings -> System Info -> enable Router-Behind-Router Detection. Change your router's settings back to a L3(routing) device not L2(switching). Reboot your RG. Set the router to DMZ mode and assign it a static IP. Reboot the devices and possibly the RG. Option #2: Open up the Xbox live ports on xbox1 and assign DMZ mode to xbox2.

Holding down the reset button on the side of the iPSU fo 15s will flow the system password to the network. In fact, it's in the technician's m&p to do it before leaving. A factory reset resets the i3812V and allows it to re-sync with the iPSU and receive a password update from the iPSU. The factory reset on the iPSU requires the you to press and hold the reset button down...
