So after reading a bunch of helpful threads, the problem is this. Using the IP passthrough function of the modem to pass the public IP over to the router is broken as implemented. The modem passes along the ip address but with the wrong netmask. As a result of this the router (in your case linksys) cant access the default gateway to get access to the internet. How to fix,...

Lol good luck. I've been trying or quite some time and it appears there isn't a work around. Evidently AT&T thinks that using more than just a computer hooked up wirelessly is wrong and shouldn't be allowed. I couldnt even use my work VPN with their service. AT&T seems to be a strange co in some of their decisions..
